3 Times Failed
There are new requirements set by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles for retesting. If you have failed your learners permit test (written test or computerized test) 3 times you must complete a Driver Education course before you may return to test again. The class you would need depends on your age.

This class is an A-Z of everything driving related. It includes: Rules & Regulations, Licensing Requirements, Signs, The Driving Task, Vehicle Insurance, Alcohol and Organ/Tissue Donation.
- 18 and over– You must complete a Driver Manual Course, which is an 8 hour class.
This class is a basic overview of the Virginia Driver Manual. It also includes a brief session on testing tips, vehicle related terminology, and new rules & regulations.
